Once you have a written quote for asbestos collection, the next step is to agree a date and the practical arrangements with the office. This guide covers postcode availability, access, changes before the visit and the paperwork to keep afterwards. An accepted quote or submitted enquiry does not by itself confirm an appointment.
If you are still gathering details for a price, start with our asbestos collection quote checklist. Collection is for suitable material already removed; taking down an installed roof, pipe or other material needs a removal assessment and its own agreed scope.
Check the agreed collection before choosing a date
Use the written quote to confirm which material and quantity will be collected, where it is located, the access assumptions, the total and the disposal arrangements. Any handling or preparation expected from you must be agreed with the office. Do not move, break, stack or repackage suspected asbestos to prepare for the visit.
If the material, amount or condition differs from the photographs used for the quote, tell the office before booking. Additional material or unrelated waste is not automatically included. The team needs the current information to assess whether the agreed collection can proceed.
Agree access and a contact for collection day
Confirm the full postcode, the person providing access and how the team will reach the agreed material. Mention locked gates, shared drives, narrow passages, steps, parking restrictions and any limits on vehicle access or arrival times.
Where you are arranging the work remotely, agree who can provide keys or open the property and who can answer questions about the quote. The office must confirm any access arrangement. Do not assume a neighbour, tenant or other contractor can approve a change to the work on your behalf.
Keep the agreed route available without disturbing the asbestos. If access changes after quotation, contact the office so it can review the arrangement before attendance.
If the material is still installed
A collection booking does not include dismantling an installed roof, garage or pipe unless removal has been separately assessed and included in the written quote. Choose the relevant service first: roof removal only, roof removal and replacement, full garage removal or floor-tile removal.
If you are unsure which route applies, describe the material in its current position and send safe existing photographs. We provide removal and collection, not asbestos testing or surveys.
Availability depends on the job, not just the calendar
Urgent dates are sometimes possible, but they depend on the job, postcode, crew capacity and office confirmation. A preferred date is helpful, particularly where roofers, builders, tenants or a property sale are involved, but it should be treated as a request until the written quote and booking are confirmed.
If timing is tight, say why. For example, explain whether a contractor is waiting to start, whether a property must be handed over, or whether weather exposure is a concern with a damaged roof. That context helps the office understand the practical deadline without making a promise that cannot be kept.
Ask the office to confirm the agreed date, any arrival arrangements and the contact to use if access or the job changes. Allow for the collection to be assessed for your postcode and current capacity before committing other trades to a dependent date.
What an asbestos collection includes
A request to remove asbestos does not automatically include furniture, household belongings or unrelated waste. Send safe existing photos, your postcode, the quantity and access details so the asbestos work can be assessed and quoted clearly.
What happens after the quote is accepted
Once the scope and price are agreed, the collection can be scheduled for a confirmed date. Before attendance, make sure the agreed access route is available and that the material has not been moved or altered from what was shown in the photographs. If something changes, tell the office before the visit so the work can be reviewed.
The team carries out the agreed collection and arranges authorised disposal, with the paperwork specified in your quote. Keep that paperwork and the written scope with your property records.
Ready to arrange attendance? Contact the office with your quote reference, full postcode, preferred dates and any changes to the material or access. Keep the confirmed scope and the disposal paperwork supplied with your property records.
