For Tenants and Students
When you are leaving a property permanently, arranging for the home to be cleared at the end of the tenancy agreement is a good way to ensure you haven’t left anything unwanted behind. Disputes with landlords are often caused when the landlord has to clear up once the tenant has departed, so by doing your own clearing up beforehand – when you’re in control of the budget, what gets removed, and when – it can save a multitude of problems later on.
This holds true for students as well, who – once they move out of halls of residence – will often rent privately with friends in the area, sharing the facilities and having a bedroom each. This is common practice in university towns and cities, and there is a thriving student market, with students usually moving home at the start of the summer break in June, and then renting a different property again in September, though some do maintain their tenancy throughout the summer months.
The same rules for adult tenants are often used for students – that the property is left as it was found (with any existing appliances or fittings still in place, and working properly along with any personal belongings or collective purchases removed at the end of the lease), barring some expected wear and tear from the student lifestyle. If you know you’re leaving your property at the end of the academic year, it’s a good idea to get a professional clearance company to remove any unwanted items before you hand the keys back – and when the cost is shared between all the tenants of the property, it offers exceptional value for money and peace of mind.
